    Verdict

    Classic Punch is more than capable of taking a hand in the finish of this contest but David Elsworth's gelding is not the most consistent of performers and has only won once in the last two seasons so he looks best watched in a race taken to go to DRILL SERGEANT, who is preferred to Chock A Block. After a disappointing effort at Goodwood in May, Saeed Bin Suroor's colt ran better when returning after a break in a conditions race at Doncaster and he has to be respected in a race that should not take a great deal of winning. Gary Moore's Funday won well at Epsom in a handicap last month but this represents a step up in class for her and she may have to settle for minor honours behind Drill Sergeant. Mark Johnston's gelding has struggled against the handicapper since his win in the Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes but he has not been disgraced in group races in his last three starts and has a obvious chance in this company.
