A dour looking opener in the mud, with plenty of exposed regulars on the northern handicap circuit to go at. Roman Outlaw has to come into calculations courtesy of his 13 length course and distance success from Sireric last time out. However, the veteran Sireric now has a 12lb pull for that defeat and has been as good as ever this campaign, so in a race where there are doubts throughout the field, he is taken to score again. Minella Silver will relish the ground and should go better on it than of late, but his yard is not in the best of form and so he is overlooked as a betting proposition. Impertio and Flat Top both have ability but have not shown the best of it recently, while Mr Mahdlo will love the cut, but looks thoroughly exposed, although he may still be up to making the frame.
