Ferdy Murphy's runners always warrant respect, especially over extreme distances like this but his runner here Negus de Beaumont has yet to prove that he stays this far and preference is for Newbay Prop, who gets the vote ahead of Bannister Lane. The last mentioned has been running consistently well and looks worth chancing over this longer trip so has to be respected. David Pipe's Comply Or Die has slipped to a fair mark so has to considered on ground that will suit, while King Killone may appreciate the fitting of blinkers for the first time. Eric's Charm represents a yard that has been in good form of late and is another to consider but it is Newbay Prop that gets the vote. Tony Martin won this event with Hollybank Buck back in 1999 and he looks to have solid claims over a trip that suits, having run a decent third in the Midlands National last term.
