Carver County has shown nothing so far and is easy to dismiss, as is Hobbesian War who has finished more than twenty lengths behind the winner in his first two starts. Vodka Red at least has experience on heavy ground here but he finished a long way behind last month and Voovoo showed her inexperience on debut and could improve. However, with little to offer from the ones with experience it may pay to side with a newcomer. Valentine's Gift is a brother to a juvenile winner over this sort of trip and there is a lot to like about Wrekin Sunset who may prove better in time, but her trainer has a 3-4 record at the course. Bryan Smart can ready a first time out winner and PURSUING gets the call, albeit a very tentative one, with some useful elements of stamina present through the sire's bloodline that may just be necessary here. Mystic Winds should also be respected as a half-sister to multiple winner Marvo and Private Cowboy has the assistance of Paul Hanagan.
