It was soft going when ROYAL CONNOISSEUR won a maiden race at Thirsk. Not disgraced in handicaps on a faster surface since, Richard Fahey's charge gets the nod. Sleeping Apache and Percy's Gal are other recent maiden winners but both have been well beaten in handicaps and Penny Garcia makes more appeal having tumbled down the handicap of late.
