Brave Spartacus makes appeal from a pedigree perspective, especially with Denis O'Regan booked, but his trainer has had one winner from 74 runners in bumpers lately and that's a huge concern. Sue Smith's record in bumpers is slightly better and her decision to pay £25,000 for HIGH HOYLANDER can pay instant dividends. Her new recruit was unfortunate to bump into a very well backed debut winner at Market Rasen and, as a big, stuffy sort, can be expected to have learned plenty from that run. Market support for his stablemate Kent Street would be interesting but in the absence of that guide Middlebrook may prove next best. He was very well supported ahead of his debut at Carlisle and, having bumped into a smart rival, is sure to feature if improving for the experience.
