In depth

Verdict

A case can be made for all seven of these and so a tentative vote is given to Rogues Gallery, with Crackadee and Trisons Star the most potent threats. Howard Johnson's seven-year-old was beaten four lengths by today's rival Crackado over course and distance last time. He made a bold bid from the front, but he was untidy at the thirdlast and was unable to raise his game once more to produce enough of a rallying effort. He has a five pound pull with the winner and it should be enough to reverse the form. Trisons Star followed some desperate performance with a better run last time out, finshing second to Nevada Red. That will have done his confidence the world of good and a big run is expected. Auntie Kathleen was an impressive winner in the Haydock mud last month and is another to warrant respect. So caution is advised in a wide open affair and Rogues Gallery is just a token choice.
