        Verdict

        Champery is taken to make a winning debut at the expense of Dowlleh, Algol and Snowflight. Mark Johnston won this juvenile contest 12 months ago with Crime Scene, and is sure to have Champery ready to run a big race on his debut. The son of Bahri is bred to get a mile in time but has an optimistic entry in next year's Vodafone Derby, and who knows, maybe good enough to be considered for the 2,000 Guineas. First things first though, and hopefully he can translate his gallops work into a winning performance here over a couple of more experienced rivals. Dowlleh has had the misfortune to find one too good on each of his three outings to date and is already looking as though he needs further, as does Algol who holds an entry in the St Leger Yearling Stakes this autumn. Snowflight is another that will perhaps need more time to show his true potential, but is worth a mention at least, with preference for Champery.
