In depth

Verdict

Wichita Lineman takes the eye on pedigree being a half-brother to the stable's high class Rhinestone Cowboy but several of Jonjo O'Neill's horses have disappointed of late and he may not be one to back with any confidence and preference is for The Big Canadian, who gets the vote over Aztec Warrior. The last mentioned made an encouraging debut at Aintree last month and has to be respected on that evidence with plenty of improvement anticipated. Noel Chance does well with his runners in this grade and Commander Kev should win races judged by his debut effort at Wincanton earlier this month. Balamory Dan struggled under his penalty at Aintree and is likely to do so again, while dual winner Rosita Bay steps up in class having been found soft contests so far. Kline has to be respected given the form of Nicky Henderson's yard, while Presentandcorrect takes the eye on pedigree and could be of interest first time out for trainer Philip Hobbs. Mark Rimell's The Main Man is well related and is another to consider but the vote goes to Alan King's The Big Canadian, who created a favourable impression when scoring at Haydock last month and is taken to defy his penalty today.
