In depth

Verdict

Ballymagroarty Boy is just 1-26 with that sole victory coming more than four years ago, though he was just beaten by Island Run at Wincanton earlier this week. General Probus is still a maiden but made a very promising reappearance at Ascot in November and Sporting Mike is a useful novice who should enjoy this step up in trip. He finished ahead of Grey D'Alco last time at Sandown. BALLYCAMUS couldn’t quite match the finish speed of Sashenka over 2m4f here three weeks ago. He is proven over this longer distance so gets a tentative vote in a wide-open handicap ahead of the lightly-raced Ernest Gray, Way Out and Howaya Now.
