This looks to revolve around EXPERT EYE, one of the early market leaders for the 2000 Guineas. He finished lame when odds-on for the Dewhurst in October but an impressive win in the Vintage Stakes at Goodwood earlier is the best form on offer. Sir Michael Stoute’s colt beat subsequent Group 2 winner James Garfield and Cold Stare at Goodwood but Champagne Stakes runner-up Hey Gaman may prove a bigger threat. Connect ended last year with a Listed success over a mile at Pontefract and is less exposed than Fighting Irish, a Group 2 winner over 6f in France. Arrogant looks outclassed in this company but Raid is in the 2000 Guineas having won a maiden race at Doncaster in November and we’ll know more about him after this.
