Verdict

The Hannon yard would love to win this race named after their former stable star, who is at stud and has his first runners this season, and did so a year ago. DENAAR made a very impressive debut when odds-on at Chelmsford and the half-brother to four winners will be difficult to beat despite facing much stronger opposition. The stable is also represented by the newcomer Rogue, who faces a stiff task, but Mark Johnston has three entries, all with chances. The filly Starlight Mystery will need to step up on her victory at Ripon but Cardsharp ran a fine race at Ascot after his Brighton victory and looks likely to be suited by the easier ground. Kit Marlowe could prove best of the trio as he made a very encouraging debut at Newmarket when only beaten a neck and probably found conditions too quick. Never Back Down showed the benefit of his opening run with an all-the-way victory at Leicester but this is very much tougher.
