Plenty with claims in a wide-open contest. It was soft ground when Squats beat Graphite Storm to land last year’s renewal off a higher mark and Rogue made all to return an easy winner in soft going at Newmarket last time. Sabador was beaten less than a length in the Victoria Cup at Newmarket on his reappearance but hasn’t figured since. La Rav recorded a double last season but makes a belated seasonal debut having been gelded at the end of last year. Mystic Flight goes handicapping for the first time having won a novices' race over track and trip earlier but a speculative vote goes to the progressive SEA FOX. David Evans’ charge bids for a hat-trick having won a higher grade handicap at Newmarket a week ago and may not have finished improving yet.
