Verdict

Multiple entries from the Hannon, Fahey and Tim Easterby yards make this a more difficult race to sum up than usual. Great Page won a Listed race at Naas but couldn't handle the step-up to a Group 3 at the Curragh though this represents a drop in class and Richard Hughes rides for the first time. Whether he's best of the Hannon sextet is another matter but he looks to have a fair chance. Soapy Aitken ran very well in the Windsor Castle at Ascot but failed to build on that in a Listed contest at Sandown where he was beaten when odds-on. Richard Fahey has no less than eight runners and jockey bookings rarely give any clues but Tony Hamilton's presence in the saddle suggests Lathom is expected to put his run in the Windsor Castle behind him. EXCESSABLE beat subsequent winner Risk Adjusted easily on his debut at Ripon then just failed to get past Lydia's Place, who was receiving 13lb, at Beverley. The winner has completed a hat-trick and Tim Easterby's charge, one of four from the Yorkshire yard, looks the one to beat. Hawatif showed the benefit of her opening run with a very easy victory at Carlisle and with plenty of progress in her could reach a place at nice odds.
