In depth

Verdict

Possibly the weaker of the two divisions on paper. Roger Varian's Night of Thunder colt, Alfaadhel, looks the likeliest of the newcomers along with Professor Calculus, whilst Raging Rascal and Danville were second and fourth in a Goodwood maiden last August. it would not surprise if the tables were turned though as the latter was making his debut and didn't enjoy the smoothest of passages, although Tom Ward's colt does have a potential fitness advantage. Counsel, a son of Frankel, showed distinct promise on his Newcastle debut in December and seems sure to progress, but FOXES TALES falls into the same category and just receives the nod after coming home in eye-catching style when third on his Kempton debut in mid-December.
