Jon Ess, four times a winner on the Flat, looked a likely future winner over timber when runner-up at Sligo then didn't stay 2m4f at Bellewstown. Winning bumper Kirwans Lane was well supported on his hurdling debut at Punchestown and though disappointing will have come on for the experience. His stable companion Pienta hasn't run since finishing second in a huge field on the same track in January but has the scope to be useful in this sphere and should get into contention. Advanced Virgo needed the run after a break at Killarney last month and should do much better but this can go to SOLDIERS HILL. Gordon Elliott's charge has improved steadily in bumpers this year, scoring very easily at Downpatrick last month, and his pedigree is all about hurdling.
