So Young never started above 11/4 in his nine starts after arriving from France before finishing tailed off in the World Hurdle at Cheltenham. He may well have found that 3m trip too far and it wasn't his true form though he was a very long way behind VOLER LA VEDETTE, who won this a year ago and is impossible to oppose. Colm Murphy's brilliant mare gave Big Buck's an almighty scare at Cheltenham and, as she invariably wins first time back after a break, she looks too good for these rivals. Maller Tree and Mae's Choice are progressive young hurdlers but, like the lightly-raced Prima Vista, face stiff tasks against the two main contenders.
Mossley (IRE) 6-1 (11-0) Tracked leaders, 4th halfway, went 2nd early straight and led between final 2 flights, kept on under pressure run-in, held on well, won at Thurles 2m 6f hdl in Oct beating Marlay Park (11-0) by 3/4l, 9 ran.
Prima Vista 12-1 (11-10) Settled in 5th, headway into 2nd entering straight, no impression on easy winner after 2 out, soon no extra under pressure and dropped to 4th approaching last, 5th of 6, 24l behind Zaidpour (11-12) at Gowran Park 2m hdl G2 (1) sft in Feb.
Head Waiter (IRE) 11-1 (10-8) Prominent, led before 4th, headed approaching 3 out, soon no extra and weakened, tailed off, 11th of 18, well behind Carrigmartin (10-11) at Cork 2m 3f hcp hdl 0-140 gd in Apr.
Voler La Vedette (IRE) 11-4 (11-3) Held up in rear, 5th approaching 3 out, good headway to challenge entering straight, pushed along before last, no impression on winner run-in, 2nd of 7, 6l behind Quevega (11-3) at Punchestown 3m hdl G1 (1) hvy in Apr.
Whatuthink (IRE) 8-1 (11-12) Held up in rear, 5th and mistake 4 out, soon no impression, weakened and tailed off, 5th of 6, well behind Deal Done (11-12) at Clonmel 2m 4f chs.
Mae's Choice (IRE) 3-1 (11-6) Tracked leaders on inner, 4th halfway, pushed along and no impression in 5th 3 out, went moderate 3rd at last, kept on one pace but no chance with winner, 3rd of 8, 18l behind Tarla (10-13) at Punchestown 2m 2f hdl G3 (1) hvy in Oct.
So Young (FR) 16-1 (11-10) Held up mid-division in touch on outside, outpaced after 3 out, weakened next, tailed off, 9th of 11, well behind Big Buck's (11-10) at Cheltenham 3m hdl G1 (1) gd in Mar.
Maller Tree 9-2 (11-0) Made all, ridden from 2 out and asserted before last, kept on well run-in, won at Naas 2m 4f hdl sft in Oct beating Texas Jack (11-4) by 7l, 5 ran.
