Ex Patriot has been a short-priced beaten favourite in his last two starts, both over 1m5f, so returning to this trip could be enough for him to recoup losses. Ample Sufficiency also let supporters down over slightly shorter at Gowran last time when folding close home after attempting to make all. He was passed in the closing stages by TIPSTAFF (NAP), who was making his debut and didn't quite get the run of the race so Jim Bolger's charge looks the one to be on here with further progress likely. Big Country hasn't been beaten far in his last two starts and looks best of the remainder though Chocolat Noir wasn't far behind the selection at Gowran when she too was making her debut.
