Verdict

ZOFFANIEN, a dual winner on the Flat in France, deserves to get his head in front after performing well behind decent rivals and Denis Hogan, who usually rides him, has booked High Morgan to use his claim. He had finished 6 lengths behind Awkwafina when that one gained a 100/1 shock victory over today's rival Toughari at Limerick but he's improved subsequently and will be 6lb better off. Peckham Springs had given notice of an imminent victory when placed on his hurdling bow at Punchestown so it shouldn't have been a surprise when he scored at Fairyhouse. Perry Owens has disappointed since a winning debut at Galway in October while Varna Gold scored on good ground at Killarney in October.
