In depth

Verdict

The selection here is The Name's Bond, with Black Chalk and Gone Too Far rated as his biggest dangers. The Name's Bond has proven himself competitive from his current rating on a number of occasions and might provide the safest option today. Black Chalk was disappointing when beaten over three miles here last time - he also got worked up before the race - but, having won well over course and distance the time before, should be capable of a better show. Gone Too Far is rated just a pound above a winning mark from September 2005, so can be given a chance on that basis. King Of The Arctic has been beaten twice from his revised rating, while Mountain Of Madness maybe also has it to prove from his current rating. Finally, Yvanovitch would need to recapture 2004 form if he is going to get involved, but has been lightly raced since, and Snowy is now rated seven pounds below his three-mile win of September of last year but generally seems better at that distance . All of which returns us to the selection, which is The Name's Bond.
