Sword Of Fate is readily ignored in this and King's Wharf was almost 20 lengths adrift of Ubaltique when the top weight won at Kelso in November. Donald McCain’s veteran has been taking on better opposition since but is a little quirky. CELTIC FLAMES is back on the same mark as when successful around here two years ago and also placed last time at Kelso so should be landing a race like this.
Ubaltique (FR) 16-1 (10-13) In rear, struggling 5 out, stayed on run in, nearest finish, 5th of 10, 9l behind Billingsley (11-5) at Haydock 2m hcp (3) hvy in Jan.
Celtic Flames (IRE) 15-2 (11-3) Jumped right in rear, headway normal 3 out, went 3rd after omitted last, stayed on same pace, 3rd of 8, 5 3/4l behind Lastin' Memories (10-0) at Kelso 2m 1f hcp (4) sft in Jan.
King's Wharf (IRE) 9-2 (11-1) With leader, outpaced 2 out, soon ridden and lost place, no chance with front pair before last, weakened and lost modest 3rd closing stages, 4th of 8, 18 3/4l behind Ubaltique (11-5) at Kelso 2m 1f hcp (4) hvy in Nov.
Sword Of Fate (IRE) 33-1 (12-5) Held up in mid-division, some headway when mistake 8th, soon weakened, pulled up before 4 out, at Newcastle 2m hcp (4) sft in Jan.
