In depth

Verdict

Mary Gray did not run up to expectations here over 1m4f last week but may be worth another chance over this longer trip with ground conditions again to suit and Mark Johnston's filly gets the vote ahead of Ostfanni and Rouge Et Noir. The last mentioned ran better in a Redcar claimer last time and would have claims if able to reproduce that effort back in this grade. Transit has given little cause for optimism of late and may prefer a softer surface, while Smart Boy Prince is hard to recommend with any confidence on recent evidence. Martin Todhunter's Ostfanni has been performing with credit over hurdles of late and has to be respected back on the level but may struggle to give weight away to Mary Gray, who is preferred.
