Sheikh Hamdan has three entered here and Paul Hanagan has elected to ride Kanaf, who is returning to this track after landing four of his last five on Jebel Ali's Dirt. He's never won here but has gone close on occasions so must be considered. Tamaathul carries the same colours but he's been looking a bit high in the weights recently, though he did beat the reappearing Rutland Boy narrowly off levels just over a year ago and was conceding Le Drakkar 5lb when beaten less than a length last January. MODERN HISTORY was returning after almost a year off at the first Carnival meeting in January and very nearly made all over the trip. He was caught close home by Fulbright with the favourite My Freedom three lengths behind and, as he's lightly-raced for his age, is taken to go one better. My Freedom showed the benefit of the run with a much better effort behind Eastern Rules three weeks ago while Gold City showed massive improvement to finish runner-up to Zakhee with Eastern Rules a close third. The last time Barbecue Eddie raced over 7f he won from a 6lb higher mark and he's been running in better class.
