In depth

Verdict

George Baker saddled Belgian Bill to victory here on his return to action last week and the well-travelled Boomshackerlacker could easily follow suit as he's a Listed winner in Germany and is likely to be well forward. Tamarkuz has a mind of his own and is invariably slowly away, as he was when narrowly beaten by the very progressive Faulkner over 7f two weeks ago. He got to the front at the furlong pole but was just outstayed by the winner, who was receiving 7lb. Dane O'Neill will ensure he's thereabouts today but SAMURAI SWORD looks the answer. The winner of a strong handicap here in March, he took his chance in the Group 1 Jebel Hatta where not surprisingly he was outclassed. A run behind True Story a fortnight ago will have put him straight and he's on a very fair mark. Edu Querido finished in front of him in the Jebel Hatta and returned after a break to score at Lingfield last month so has to rate a threat while Haatheq has some smart form around here and will be fitter than most after three recent starts. Prince Alzain finished last of four on his reappearance after a long absence at Lingfield early last month and may need another run.
