Veteran South African rider Pierre Strydom pays a rare visit to the track specifically to ride Paul Lafferty's Harry's Son here. The winner of Greyville's Premier Champion Stakes as a juvenile, he only had two runs last year but landed a Group 2 on his return to action so a long absence shouldn't prove a problem. SAFETY CHECK (NAP) was in superb form here a year ago completing a hat-trick with this race as the middle leg. He had Eastern Rules 4l behind and Anaerobio a further length away and should confirm the form though both rivals have a recent run under their belts. He had a couple of runs in the UK in the summer and Charlie Appleby should have him fit enough to land this for the second year. Anaerobio won this in 2014 and looked in need of his reappearance so may prove the main threat. Paul Hanagan will have had the pick of Hamdan Al Maktoum's four entries and goes with Zarwaan, last seen landing a Listed contest for Ed Dunlop at Redcar in October. Tellina has been a regular performer at Group 1 level in South Africa and often been placed though a longer trip is likely to suit in time.
