    Verdict

THEGREATCOLLECTION, a dual winner in the USA, won a handicap here in November then just failed to catch Secret Ambition, who was receiving 13lb, over the track and trip a fortnight ago. His stable have two other entries and both are greatly respected, especially another USA import Kimbear, who will be carrying high hopes for the yard this campaign. Godolphin hold a strong hand with the pair at the bottom of the handicap. Mountain Hunter won at Newmarket and Goodwood but didn't quite make the expected progress when stepped up to 1m3f at Kempton and this is more like his trip. G K Chesterton was in top form in early summer winning at Newmarket and Epsom but struggled from his raised mark in tough handicaps later. Simon Crisford's Rodaini has been superbly placed to win half of his ten races though makes his debut on an artificial surface as does Manahir, who had some smart form in France.
