        Verdict

        Alfareeq won this Group 1 a year ago in good style and his season has followed the same path with the intention of completing the race double. Headed right on the line by today's rival Valiant Prince in the Group 2 Singspiel last time he'll make a bold bid to retain his title. He was beaten a couple of lengths by Real World in the Zabeel Mile last January but was staying on and has a fitness advantage over the latter, who hasn't been seen since second to Baaeed in the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot and has been gelded. MASTER OF THE SEAS was six lengths behind the latter in the QEII at Ascot in October but looked on very good terms with himself in the Zabeel Mile in January. He looks certain to get into contention and looks a better option than the likely short-priced favourite.
