A dreadful contest to start the afternoon's action and what can only be a tentative vote goes to Aleemdar, who is preferred to Lone Soldier and Royaltea. The last mentioned was still leading when falling two out in the race won by Harry Potter at Ludlow on Thursday and if none the worse for that tumble has an obvious chance. Top weight Alpine Hideaway could probably do with some help form the handicapper and of more interest may be Irish Prince, who has a nice racing weight and has shown signs of improvement of late. Recent Fontwell winner Sheer Guts and Irish Blessing, who has claims if fit enough for his return are others worthy of a mention although a bigger threat is likely to come from the consistent Lone Soldier. The vote though goes to Aleemdar, who has had a tendency to be pulled up in his races but landed a touch at Cartmel in May and may have needed his return at Fontwell when again pulled up last month. Any market support for the eight-year-old would be of great interest in a race as weak as this.
