In depth

Verdict

White Turf is 5lb better off than when beaten just under five lengths by Harry The Norseman at Uttoxeter. There shouldn’t be much between the pair today but both should again beat African Sun. Mi Laddo was in good form at Taunton last month but wouldn’t want any rain. CHESS PLAYER is 0-9 but eased in grade and Ben Pauling’s gelding may be capable of defying his big weight in a race like this. Red Ochre is often placed but a record of 0-24 speaks volumes and Gale Force One has a much greater scope for improvement.
