Beaver Lodge can open his account over fences at the expense of Trading Trouble, a faller last time, and Rudi Knight who has a penalty to overcome. Charlie Mann's six-year-old, twice a winner here over hurdles, has started to look badly treated over the smaller obstacles, and that showed on his latest outing on the course when he struggled and hit a couple of flights. Nevertheless he still managed to finish third, giving lumps of weight to the first two, and will appreciate not having to do that here. The logical step to a chasing career can pay dividends at the first time of asking, and he can see off Rudi Knight who has to pay the penalty for an easy success at Newton Abbot. He was put firmly in his place at Aintree last time, and although this is easier, he will struggle to give the selection seven pounds. Trading Trouble has not looked a natural jumper and blundered away a winning chance at Perth. He definitely has the ability to score but with that nagging doubt we return to Beaver Lodge who is sure to have been well schooled for his chase debut.
