In depth

Verdict

STARR FLYER, Quarl Ego and Butterfly Rose make most appeal in this handicap hurdle and the vote is given to Starr Flyer. The selection put in an encouraging effort last time at Stratford when he chased home L'Eau Du Nil. He was staying-on well at the finish that day so this step-up in trip will suit and he looks capable of breaking his duck. Quarl Ego is making his handicap debut here and Nicky Henderson's 5-year-old has shown that he does have ability. He could be of interest today, although the market will probably be the best guide to his chance. Butterfly Rose did not cut the mustard over the birch but she ran well back over hurdles last time at Hereford when she finished third behind Dansimar and if she can build on that then she should be thereabouts at the finish. Archimboldo is a course and distance winner and he ran well at Warwick last time. However, consistency is not his strong point and the percentage call is to take him on. Starr Flyer looks to have everything in his favour and he is put forward as the pick.
