In depth

Verdict

This should lie between Red Brook Lad, Viscount Bankes and Nominate we will put forward Red Brook Lad. The selection is a course and distance winner and he tends to hit top form at this time of year. He finished second behind Scots Grey at Newbury last time but they were well clear of the rest that day and with this in mind he looks to have a rock solid chance. Viscount Bankes won here a couple of runs ago and he put in another solid effort last time in this type of race. He gets on well with his pilot and he has to be on the shortlist again today. Nominate looks held by Viscount Bankes on a run at Hereford last month and although he has place claims today it will be a surprise if he can reverse form with that rival. Scotch Corner would have claims granted a clear round but that is far from guaranteed and the game and consistent Red Brook Lad looks a far more reliable alternative.
