In depth

Verdict

Penny Mallow has had a run over fences, unlike stable companion Ballingers Corner, but Charlie Deutsch still prefers the latter. FORTUNES MELODY may be vulnerable to a less-exposed mare but she drops down a grade for this and was more than seven lengths ahead of Volkovka on similar terms at Wincanton in December - Ben Bromley has won on the six-year-old in the past. Merry Mistress was only third off this mark at Huntingdon last month and La Renommee is also proving expensive to follow.
