Verdict

Mandamus has been racing in very strong handicaps including at Leopardstown last week where once again he wasn't beaten far, though he has a huge weight for a three-year-old. Bubbly Bellini is having his 98th start and attempting to win for the 17th time and, though not in the best of form, the conditions and trip will suit and he is likely to be thereabouts. CHAMPAGNE OR WATER went up 9lb for scoring over a mile at the Curragh but has produced two fine runs subsequently. She was in the lead at this trip when a close fourth back there last month and she looks the one to be on. Chillie Billie won at this meeting a year ago and is in such good form at present that it will be a surprise if he's not involved in the finish, though this will be his highest-ever mark on his 67th start. Ducky Mallon started favourite over 6f at the Curragh last time and didn't impress but his only victory has been over this trip so he's one to keep an eye on with his low weight. Roachdale House pulled too hard at Leopardstown and is reunited with Pat Smullen.
