Verdict

Chef D'oeuvre is much better than he showed at Carlisle on his reappearance when the cheekpieces were left off. Full Irish found 2m too short on his chasing bow at Warwick. He was a decent novice hurdler last season and a first try over 3m is overdue. Solstice Star is doing better over fences second time around but he’s lost the winning habit and needs some help from the handicapper. Nobuttaboy will have benefited from last month’s fourth at Aintree but CRYSTAL LAD is on an upward curve and well treated on his hurdles form so gets the nod with Two Smokin Barrels preferred to the inconsistent Saint John Henry of the remainder.
