        Verdict

        A trappy maiden here but something has to win and the principals look to be Maadraa, Vice Consul and Flash of Colour and the narrow vote is given to Maadraa. The selection was a fair third behind the highly regarded Al Samha last time out, that form looks solid in the context of this race and he need only reproduce that effort to win this. Vice Consul rates the main danger on his debut fourth behind Summer Winds, he looks sure to improve for the step up in trip and should be watched in the market. Flash of Colour is another worthy of respect on his latest fourth behind Pafacism but he looked far from straight forward on that occasion and is taken on with this in mind. Of the remainder Allied Powers is another that looks sure to improve on his first starts of the season but Maadraa is given one last chance to get his head in front.
