GUMBALL (NAP), useful over timber, beat Champion Hurdle fifth Verdana Blue on his debut on the Flat at Kempton. That was a decent performance and he should be capable of better but the grey won’t find it easy to give 6lb to William Haggas’ Newcastle runner-up Allieyf, though the latter isn’t really bred for this trip and is a hard-puller. Momtalik represents the Gosden yard but he’ll need to improve on a couple of efforts last season, though has been gelded over the winter. None of the others make much appeal
