Races do not come much worse than this in terms of quality but something has to win and we give a chance to Lady Xanthia who is less exposed than her main rivals Spiders Web and Top Style. The last mentioned missed last season and the ex-Irish horse, who is now in the care of Mark Wallace, may be able to step up on his two previous outings for current connections, especially with Kieren Fallon taking the ride for the first time. He rates a bigger threat than Spiders Web who is probably flattered by his form figures as the son of Linamix has been well beaten when placed behind Mrs Cube and Cumwhitton on the Fibresand recently. He has also yet to prove his effectiveness on this surface so preference is for Lady Xanthia. Ian Wood's filly is a well-related American bred filly and, while she has only shown signs of ability so far, the step up in trip from sprint distances should suit. She looks worth chancing in a moderate contest where the remainder of the field, Lady At Leisure and Sennen Cove being the best of the rest, hardly warrant a mention.
