None of those to have raced so far have exactly covered themselves with glory. Pourquoi Non's third over 7f here last month came in a lower grade while St Michel was beaten more than eight lengths when third on debut at Beverley and even further next time at Leicester. AFNAAN, Always Welcome and Cap Canaille are the only debutants in this but all three represent powerful Newmarket stables who do well at this track. Preference is for the former as the Ravens Pass colt is a half brother to two all weather winners over a mile and certain to know his job. US-bred Always Welcome should handle the surface and is a half brother to dual Group 1 winning miler Rainbow View. He will be winning soon while Cap Canaille's only sibling won over 7f here on his debut.
