An intriguing contest, despite the lack of numbers, with just a 2lbs covering the four runners on official ratings. Gaye Kellaway will be keen to win this event with Grey Pearl, but her filly looks to have plenty to prove at present after a couple of uninspiring efforts of late and can be safely passed over, while Mameyuki ran well enough in the face of a stiff task at Yarmouth last time. She certainly comes into this on her run over this course and distance back in May where she was beaten just over a length by Presto Vento in a Listed race. However, this looks likely to be fought out by the three-year-olds in the field Lago D'Orta and Yafool, While the former is clearly on the upgrade and proven in a small field, he is reluctantly passed over in favour of the filly Yafoul. Barry Hills has his team back in fine order now, after a quite couple on months and Yafoul looked to be on the way back when turning in a solid effort at Haydock recently, where she may have done better still had she not been eased in the closing stages. She will certainly appreciate this stiffer test and can prove too strong for Lago D'Orta, who landed a muddling contest at Newmarket recently. However, he does have a progressive profile and won't be too concerned if this turns into a tactical affair, but Yafoul is taken to start making up for lost time.
