Mark Johnston's pair Dubai Touch and Zaham both have strong claims here but may have to give best to Silver Pivotal, who gets the vote in the Winter Derby. The Gerard Butler-trained selection improved for the step up to this trip when running on well to land a decent handicap over c&d in January and looks primsed and ready for a big run here in receipt of the sex allowance, and with Jamie Spencer booked for the first time she is likely to be played late again. Dubai's Touch was just held by Dansant in Listed company here last time and he has plenty of solid form to bring to this and should not be far away. Stablemate Zaham is a regular in this company and doesn't know how to run a bad race. He handles this surface well and it would be no surprise if he were good enough. Philatelist was a 10f winner here last time but would need to improve a fair bit to be good enough, and the same can be said of c&d winner Evident Pride. Red Moloney is an interesting contender who has a touch of class and will get every yard of this trip though there are doubts as to whether he will handle the surface. With that in mind Silver Pivotal gets the vote.
