EVER CHEERFUL can at least make punters temporarily pleased with victory in the last but in a competitive race Takaamul and Shaded Edge are just two more of many with chances. The selection has been running consistently well off marks around this one including last time when he stayed on well to grab a place. Higher ratings have not proved a barrier either and he won off five pounds higher at this time last year. Takaamul won off his current mark last January and showed much better form than in recent starts last time when second in a similar race over a shorter trip here. His only win has come over a mile so he should be suited by this seven furlong mission. Shaded Edge narrowly missed out over course and distance last time in almost identical conditions. Off the same rating again here he should go well again with Martin Dwyer returning to the saddle who did the steering for his last victory. Ugenius and Imperial Djay are two further to consider with enough form on their side to suggest a challenge but in a tricky one to finish we side with Ever Cheerful.
