charged gate before opened, dwelt, soon chased leader, led narrowly over 2f out, ridden over 1f out and hard pressed, kept on and headed towards finish
Only four runners but a tricky contest. Aljuljalah is best in at the weights but he hasn’t shown much this season. Madrinho has also become disappointing but the lightly-raced C Note finished a solid fourth at Newbury last time and could well be on an upward curve, though preference is for SALATEEN. He’s been running in much better contests than this and his fifth at Doncaster last time was respectable form.
Salateen 17-2 (9-12) Prominent, every chance over 2f out, stayed on same pace final furlong, 5th of 14, 4 1/4l behind Certificate (9-10) at Doncaster 7f hcp (2) gf in Aug.
C Note (IRE) 4-1 (8-9) Chased leaders, ridden 2f out, edged left and kept on same pace inside final furlong, 4th of 9, 2l behind Boomshackerlacker (9-0) at Newbury 7f hcp (2) gf in Jul.
Madrinho (IRE) 33-1 (9-7) Dwelt, behind, headway over 1f out, never dangerous, 6th of 9, 10 1/4l behind Wimpole Hall (9-0) at Sandown 1m hcp (3) gf in Aug.
Aljuljalah (USA) 13-2 (9-6) Tracked leader, driven to lead 2f out, ridden over 1f out, headed inside final furlong, one pace, 4th of 7, 2l behind Miss Carbonia (8-7) at Ascot 1m hcp fll (2) gd in Sep.
