Runner-up in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket and the Curragh last year, Lightning Thunder returns to action. But she found Al Thakhira too good over today's trip as a two-year-old and the latter finished behind Sceptre Stakes winner Kiyoshi at Doncaster in September, along with Evita Peron. Charlie Hills' filly is penalised for that win and has to give plenty of weight to NEW PROVIDENCE, who went close in the Nell Gywn at Newmarket last month with Astrelle back in fourth. Ryan Moore takes over the reins today on Hugo Palmer's filly so she gets the nod. French raider Fresles will find this tougher than the race she won on the all-weather here last month but the German maiden winner Phoibe should be treated with more caution given Peter Schiergen sent out last year's winner at 16/1.
