In depth

Verdict

This is a race that will take very little winning and CAOL ILA is selected in hope rather than expectation, ahead of Rightcar and Graceandgratitude. James Given's filly looks feasibly treated off this mark, based largely on her close-up third back in November. In fairness that was her only really eye-catching run from six starts but with improvement still possible and Hayley Turner to assist, we fancy this one might just be good enough to defy top weight. Rightcar receives a couple of pounds from our pick and has hopes on his second last time. However, that effort came over seven furlongs and this colt was doing his best work late, so the drop back to the minimum looks reason enough to go against Peter Grayson's runner this time. Graceandgratitude is unexposed and improved upon her maiden form when midfield last time. With further improvement likely this filly is well worth watching in the market for her in-form yard that can land a gamble. Of the others only Annia Galeria makes any sort of appeal, this one having at least won a race. That debut success suggested today's mark of 54 might look generous but she's yet to repeat the form and has questions to answer now, as do Lets Move It and Rightcar Marian. The last-named is a stablemate of the likely favourite and is worth watching in the betting but without that guide Caol Ila is our token choice.
