In depth

Verdict

SIR MAXI (NAP) only had to be pushed out to land the odds at Pontefract and further improvement is likely now handicapping with an opening mark of 71 far from restrictive, though he doesn’t have the best of draws. Host, second in two of his last three, and Coco Bear, back in the right grade, are better berthed and soft going was a legitimate excuse for Gosnay Gold at Haydock. Host’s stable companion Dillydingdillydong is also worth considering along with Book of Secrets and the top two Commonsensical and Breckland.
