Verdict
CROWNING STAR found the competition much too hot in the Windsor Castle at Ascot last time, but he'd shown promise in a couple of starts before that. Stan Moore's colt looks to be crying out for today's extra furlong and can open his account. He's preferred to stablemate Purple Affair, who is struggling to find his best trip after modest efforts over five and seven furlongs, while Mystery Cool's best effort so far came over the minimum trip. Flosse went close at Newcastle last month and Bareback is a half-brother to Mullionmileanhour, who won his racecourse debut on the Polytrack. As such, John Best's charge makes most appeal of the newcomers.
