In depth

Verdict

Plenty in with claims in this competitive handicap and the nod goes to Dawson Creek ahead of Joy And Pain and Grand Assault. The yard are shrewd and if the money is down then a big run can be expected. He was slightly unlucky not to win last time out over a mile and now dropped back to seven furlongs he should go well. There are plenty of other course and distance winners in the lineup so dangers lurk around every corner. Joy And Pain looks to be one, coming here on the back of a break having been successful at the track 72 days ago. He beat Imperium on that occasion who has a narrow turnaround in the weights today which could make for an interesting finish. Grand Assault is consistent but is also held by Joy And Pain on previous runnings, whilst Nikki Bea and King After should not be dismissed along with the Jamie Spencer-ridden Napoletano. An open race, with preference for Dawson Creek.
