Venice Road has yet to jump a fence in public and has his stamina to prove but Venetia Williams is adept at placing her horses and he has shown enough over hurdles to suggest that he can take a race of this nature. He ran well for a long way on his reappearance at Plumpton until tiring but he was entitled to need that run and should be cherry ripe now. Sir Bumble and Jacksons Pier are another pair of chasing debutants to note in the market whilst Heavy Weather showed promise in two starts over fences last season but was well beaten on his return. Peveril Pride showed more last time and could emerge as a danger but a record of just one win in thirty starts doesn't inspire confidence so Venice Road is the call.
