Gerard Butler's runners at Lingfield always warrant respect and Madeline Bassett, a narrow winner winner over course and distance last time, is no exception. A 6lb rise for that success looks harsh but, with the third having been six lengths away, is probably fair. Paul Cole's Kepler has been in good form at Wolverhampton recently but it is questionable as to whether he can reproduce the form here. Roger Ingram has done well from limited opportunities of late so Bocaccio, an Irish import, could do well on his British debut. Mi Odds, representing the stable of Norma Macauley can never be discounted, while My Lucy Locket will find the company less testing than when behind Beauchamp Hero in a Listed race here last time out. The TEAMtalk selection though is Brilliant Red. The son of Royal Academy ran a blinder when third to Sphinx on his first run for Jamie Poulton over 1m4f last month. The drop to 1m2f should suit and, off just a 1lb higher mark, he should go close again.
